According to Xinhua News Agency, with the approval of President of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping, 1,400 doctors and nurses from the military will be dispatched to Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital to undertake the task of the medical treatment of NCIP.
On February 2, 2020, the delivery ceremony of Huoshenshan Hospital took place in Wuhan, Hubei after a 9-day race against the clock.
Thanks to the hard work of the 7,000-odd builders, it took only 9 days to complete the construction of Huoshenshan Hospital.
On the afternoon of January 23, Wuhan Urban Construction Bureau held an emergency meeting and requested to build a special hospital in accordance with the model of Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital that was constructed during the period of fight against SARS in 2003;
On January 24 (the Chinese New Year’s Eve, being the first day), the relevant design plan was drawn out, and hundreds of excavators arrived at the site to start land levelling;
On January 25 (the first day of the lunar year, being the second day), the construction was officially started;
On January 26 (the second day of the lunar year, being the third day), the construction of the first model house was completed;
On January 27 (the third day of the lunar year, being the fourth day), the site leveling and the gravel and yellow sand backfilling were completed; the first batch of container board houses were hoisted and constructed;
On January 28, (the fourth day of the lunar year, being the fifth day), the steel structure of the double-layer ward area began to take shape;
On January 29 (the fifth day of the lunar year, being the sixth day), the installation of skeletons of over 300 container board houses was completed; the electrical and mechanical pipeline operations were launched simultaneously;
On January 30 (the sixth day of the lunar year, being the seventh day), the laying of the anti-seepage membrane was fully completed; the equipment of the sewage treatment room was hoisted simultaneously;
On January 31 (the seventh day of the lunar year, being the eighth day), 90% of the containers were assembled; 3,000 square meters of skeletons were installed for the mobile board houses;
On February 1 (the eighth day of the lunar year, being the ninth day), the installation of medical supporting equipment was fully launched;
On February 2 (the ninth day of the lunar year, being the tenth day), the hospital was delivered.
The hospital mainly treats confirmed patients, with a construction area of 34,000 square meters and 1,000 beds. It is equipped with intensive care units, intensive units and general wards, as well as auxiliary departments such as infection control, inspection, special diagnosis and radiation diagnosis. Among them, there are wards, consultation rooms, ICU, network computer rooms, supply warehouses, garbage temporary-storage rooms, etc.
There are two beds in each ward, with cabinet and medical equipment next to each bed.
The air conditioner and ventilation duct ensure that the air delivered to the room has been purified; and each room is equipped with an air purifier.
The isolation transfer cabin unique to the infectious ward is used for the transfer of medical supplies, medicines and food. The transfer cabin is installed with an ultraviolet disinfection system to avoid infection. It is an important issue that where medical wastewater will be discharged. This is especially the key for infectious disease hospitals.
Earlier, Tang Qun, deputy chief architect of CITIC General Institute of Architectural Design and Research Co., Ltd. and design head of Huoshenshan Hospital, said in an exclusive interview with ZAKER that Huoshenshan Hospital adopts the technical measures of full collection and disinfection treatment of rainwater and laying of impermeable membranes throughout the base. 50,000 square meters of construction land is fully covered with impermeable membrane.
The sewage will be discharged into the urban pipe network after four hours of disinfection. The rainwater into the urban pipe network after half an hour of disinfection. Medical waste will be subject to special disposal in accordance with relevant provisions of the environmental protection department.
