Popular dating app Tantan has been relaunched on Chinese Android app stores after going through a ‘rehabilitation period’ since the end of April. According to reports by local media, as of June 29 the app is once again available for download on Android app stores on Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and other Android-powered smartphones.
As of press time, the app is still not available for download via the Chinese version of the Apple App Store.
Tantan previously stated that the app had been taken off digital shelves because of violations of regulations and that they would be taking a period of time to undergo “self-examination and self-correction.”
In order to avoid another such mishap, Tantan are actively working to ensure that the social dating app’s online environment improves, so as to provide users with a better, more enjoyable social experience, according to local media reports.
The dating app’s reputation has been harmed of late by fake profiles and scammers. When news that the app had been taken down from app store shelves broke, Weibo users applauded the move, with one person writing: “It’s time to fix it, there are too many scammers.”
Tantan previously introduced a new feature, presumably to combat fake profiles, whereby users can verify their profile pictures. Verified accounts appear with a small blue ‘V’ on the top right corner of pictures.
